Common questions
Notary questions, answered
What's the difference between a notary public and a commissioner of oaths?
A commissioner of oaths can take sworn statements, such as affidavits, for use in Ontario. A notary public can also do that, and can certify copies and verify signatures for use outside Ontario or Canada.
What should I bring?
Valid government-issued photo ID and your document, unsigned. If someone else needs to sign too, they must attend with their own ID.
Can you notarize documents in another language?
We can witness your signature, but we may need a certified translation to confirm what the document says. Ask us before your appointment.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, please book ahead. We’ll do our best to fit urgent requests in the same week.
