How we help

Simple, careful planning for your family's future

Planning your estate can feel daunting, so we make it simple. We take time to understand your family, your assets and your wishes, then prepare a will that says exactly what you want and names the people you trust to carry it out.

If you’ve lost a loved one, we also guide executors through probate and estate administration with patience and care, so the legal burden doesn’t fall on your shoulders.

Common questions

Wills and estates questions, answered

Ontario law decides who inherits, and the result may not match your wishes. Common-law partners don’t automatically inherit, and a family member must apply to court to manage your estate.

A handwritten (holograph) will can be valid if it’s entirely in your handwriting and signed. But DIY wills often miss details or are unclear, which can lead to costly disputes.

Review it after major life events, such as marriage, separation, the birth of a child or buying property, and every few years otherwise. Separation can also change how your will treats your spouse under Ontario law, so it’s worth a review.

An executor, called an estate trustee in Ontario, gathers the assets, pays debts and taxes, and distributes what’s left according to the will. We can guide you through each step.
